County Assessor’s Hearings
Tuesday, December 5 ~ 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Thursday, December 7 ~ 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The County Assessor’s hearings on the reassessment will be held in the courtroom at the courthouse in Monterey, VA. If you wish to discuss your assessment, you may call (540) 468-3666 for an appointment, or you may email the assessor at reassessment@highlandcova.org. Walk-ins are welcome during the listed hearing times. You will be seen as soon as possible; however, those with appointments will take priority.
Equalization board hearings - Pursuant to Title 58.1-3370 through 58.1-3389 of the Code of Virginia, as amended, an equalization board must be appointed to hear appeals after the county assessor concludes his hearings. Hearing dates for the Board of Equalization appeals will be advertised.
Mission: The mission of the Commissioner’s office is to provide fair and equitable service to the taxpayers of Highland County in accordance with local ordinances and the State Code of Virginia. We vow to administer the highest level of customer service by providing accurate and useful information in an efficient, courteous and timely manner.
